1. Who we are

ShortFilms is a streaming service for short-form vertical dramas, available through our website at reelmax.vercel.app and our mobile applications (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by [ShortFilms legal entity name], a company registered in [jurisdiction] ("ShortFilms", "we", "us"). Our contact details are in Section 19.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use ShortFilms. Some content on the Service depicts mature themes, including violence, sexual situations and strong language, and is not intended for minors. By using the Service you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

3. Your account

You can browse without an account. Purchases, your watch list and history, and creator submissions require one. When you register you agree to:

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. We may refuse registration, or reclaim usernames, at our discretion.

4. Content and licence to you

The dramas, episodes, trailers, artwork, text, software and other material on the Service ("Content") are owned by ShortFilms or licensed to us by creators and partners. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to stream Content through the Service for your own non-commercial entertainment.

You may not download (other than through features we provide for offline viewing), copy, record, screen-capture, redistribute, publicly perform, sell, rent, modify, or create derivative works from any Content, or circumvent any technical measure that protects it. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Content availability changes. We may add, remove, or alter Content, including Content you have paid to unlock, when our licence to it ends or for legal or business reasons. Where Content you unlocked with coins becomes permanently unavailable within 30 days of unlocking, contact us and we will credit the coins back.

5. Coins, VIP and payments

5.1 Free and premium episodes

The first episodes of each series are free. Later episodes are premium and can be unlocked with coins, or watched without limit under an active VIP subscription.

5.2 Coins

Coins are a virtual credit for use only within the Service. Coins have no cash value, are not property, cannot be transferred, sold, exchanged or redeemed for money, and may be forfeited if your account is terminated for breach. "Bonus" coins granted with a purchase or promotion may expire on a date we specify and are used before purchased coins. Prices, pack sizes and bonus amounts may change at any time; changes do not affect coins you already hold.

5.3 VIP subscriptions

VIP is a recurring subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly). It renews automatically at the then-current price at the end of each period until you cancel. Introductory prices apply for the first period only. Your payment method will be charged up to 24 hours before each renewal. You can cancel at any time and will keep VIP until the end of the paid period.

5.4 Billing

Purchases in our iOS app are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms; purchases on our website are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. Prices are shown in your local currency where possible and may include applicable taxes. You authorise us and our payment processors to charge your chosen payment method for purchases and renewals.

6. Refunds and cancellation

To cancel VIP: on iOS, go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions. On the web, go to Me › Wallet, or contact us.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

8. Creator submissions

If you submit a series, trailer, artwork or other material for consideration through our creators page or otherwise (a "Submission"), the following applies.

8.1 Evaluation

You grant ShortFilms a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to view, store, copy and share your Submission internally for the purpose of evaluating it. We do not owe you any compensation for a Submission, and we are not obliged to accept it, respond to it, or keep it confidential unless we agree otherwise in writing. Many series are similar; you agree that ShortFilms may already be developing, or later publish, content that resembles your Submission without any obligation to you.

8.2 Your promises

You represent that you own or control all rights in the Submission, including footage, script, music, performances and artwork; that it does not infringe anyone's rights or violate any law; that everyone appearing in it has consented; and that you have the right to grant the licence above.

8.3 Distribution

If we accept a Submission for distribution on the Service, we will enter into a separate written agreement with you that sets out the distribution licence, revenue share, term, exclusivity and payment terms. Nothing on our creators page is an offer; figures shown there describe our standard programme and may change. The separate agreement, not these Terms, governs distribution.

9. Intellectual property

ShortFilms, the ShortFilms logo, the Service, and all Content are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. You may not use our name or logos without our written permission. Feedback you give us about the Service may be used by us without restriction or compensation.

10. Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property and will respond to notices of alleged infringement that comply with applicable law, including the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Send notices to legal@reelmax.app with: your contact details; identification of the copyrighted work; the URL or title of the material on our Service; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We may remove material and terminate repeat infringers' accounts.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Apple (app distribution and in-app purchases), Stripe (web payments), Vercel (hosting), and sign-in providers such as Google, Apple, Facebook and TikTok. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services linked from the Service.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination for your breach you lose any coins and remaining VIP time without refund. Sections 4, 5.2, 8, 9, 13 to 16 and 18 survive termination.

13. Disclaimers

The Service and Content are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that Content will remain available. Content is fiction and for entertainment; it does not constitute advice of any kind.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortFilms and its officers, employees, creators and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

15. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify ShortFilms against claims, damages and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your Submissions, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.

16. Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [State / Country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at the address in Section 19 and try to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts of [venue], and you consent to their jurisdiction. Where you are a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections and forum rights of your country of residence.

17. Changes to the service or these Terms

We may change the Service, including features, Content, prices and availability, at any time. We may update these Terms; if the change is material we will notify you in the app, on the website, or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and, if you have an active subscription, cancel it before the change takes effect.

18. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any separate creator agreement, are the entire agreement between you and ShortFilms about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or successor. Notices to you may be given in the app, on the website, or by email to the address on your account.
